An elevated Hb or Hct is often an observation indicating polycythemia vera or to non-pathological causes like dehydration, tobacco use, high altitude and others. Due to limited haematological tests in donor screening, blood donors with high Hb irrespective of their health status, if detected are deferred as per national guidelines. This research aims to obtain a rationale or scientific evidence for their deferral
